Silent Meow was established back in 2014 when founder Samantha was working in the cattery department of a large shelter and discovered a real lack of services available to cat owners. Samantha noticed that people often didn’t know what to do with their cat or where to turn when they needed advice. After witnessing first-hand, the heartbreak of cats being surrendered to shelters for behavioural issues, Samantha decided it was time that cat owners had another option and set about helping cats to stay where they belong, at home.
Here at Silent Meow we believe that cats should be allowed to be cats. So our philosophy is not about teaching your cat tricks, but rather assisting your cat to perform their natural cat behaviours in appropriate ways in the home.
With the right advice you can achieve harmony in your home. Some cats just aren't the right fit for your home, but sometimes it can just be a simple miscommunication between you and your cat. So ask yourself, isn't it worth figuring out how you can help your cat, before giving them away or surrendering them to a shelter?
Samantha is the owner and cat behaviour consultant at Silent Meow. Samantha holds an Honours degree In Animal Science and Management from the University of Melbourne and a certificate in Cat Psychology.
Samantha honed her skills working in the cattery department of a large shelter and fostering cats with behaviour issues. Samantha has since gone on to educate the public and those working / volunteering in the animal care industry about cat behaviour at the RSPCA, Lort Smith animal shelter and for Animal Behaviour education organisations.
